"Combining Single-Mode Fiber Laser Arrays for Power Scaling"

The maximum power from a single frequency, single-mode fiber laser is of the order of 1kW. Therefore, multiple single-mode fiber laser outputs need to be combined for higher power scaling. Many beam combing methods have been proposed and demonstrated. They are generally classified in terms of combining geometry as tiled-aperture or common-aperture. We will discuss some of the more successful techniques for combining fiber laser outputs.
