"Quantum Coherence in light-harvesting complexes: the macro & micro views"

Understanding the physical origin of the long-lived coherence in the natural light-harvesting system is essential to the interpretation of the near-unit quantum efficiency of photon conversion. We have developed the single-molecular ultrafast method to focus on individual molecules and decoupled the disorder and dynamical fluctuation caused by the local proteins environment. The result will be presented for photo-echo signal. The dynamical fluctuation of local environment is shown as the variation of signal intensities. An emergent ensemble behavior will be presented with the scaling of relative fluctuation as 1/√N, where N is the number of molecules in the detecting zone.
