An overview of Raman spectroscopy's application in Biomedical imaging: how stimulated Raman microscopy and its analogues work as a tool in optical imaging and disease diagnosis, and their recent advances.

TITLE: Changing Electrical Conductivity via Ultrashort Lasers
I will discuss a recent Nature paper published in January 2013 concerning optical-field-induced currents in dielectrics. Using few-cycle femtosecond pulses, researchers have been able to increase the AC conductivity of fused silica by more than 18 orders of magnitude within a timespan of 1 femtosecond. This work is important because it may allow electronic switching at speeds 10,000 times faster than current technology. .
