TITLE:How to be invisible: Active camouflage in cuttlefish and other cephalopods
Cuttlefish exhibit a remarkably fast and well-matched camouflage mechanism, actively modifying the structure and optical properties of their skin to produce complex visual patterns in order to avoid detection by predators and prey alike, communicate with others, and even to infiltrate a rivalís harem with a gender-bending disguise. I will present a brief overview of the physiological features that drive this camouflage, as well as an optical model (due to Sutherland et al.) describing the underlying physics and a comparison of its predictions to in situ spectrometry performed recently by Akkaynak et al.

TITLE: Creating Quantum Links Between Photons That Don't Exist at the Same Time
The paper discussed fully characterized an entangled pair of photons that have never coexisted. Using entanglement swapping between two temporally separated photon pairs, the authors entangle one photon from the first pair with another photon from the second pair. The first photon was detected even before the other was created. The observed two-photon state demonstrates that entanglement can be shared between timelike separated quantum systems.
