Life-Time Achievement Medal
Dr. John Junkins was named the 2011 Winner of the ICCES Life-Time Achievement Medal which recognizes sustained and significant contributions in the form of research, teaching, and service to the community, in the areas of Mechanics and Control, Their Synergism and Interdependence. Dr. Junkins received this award at the International Conference on Computational and Experimental Engineering & Sciences (ICCES) Banquet on April 20, 2011 in Nanjing, China (see announcement).
AIAA Honorary Fellow
Junkins is one of three 2011 Honorary Fellows, the highest distinction conferred by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Honorary Fellow is "granted to preeminent individuals who have had long and highly contributory careers in aerospace, and who embody the highest possible standards in aeronautics and astronautics." Orville Wright was named AIAA's first Honorary Fellow in 1933, and today, these Honorary Fellows are the most respected names in the aerospace industry (see announcement).


The Dinner will be held the evening of May 16, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in the Penrose Plaza (Foyer of the Mitchell Institute). Please RSVP for the dinner if you have not already done so in order to ensure enough goodies will be available. (RSVP deadline 4:00 PM May 12, 2011)
