IQSE Student Honored with Buck Weirus Spirit Award-2026

The Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering (IQSE) at Texas A&M University proudly recognizes Tanvir Islam Rajib, a doctoral student in physics, as a recipient of the prestigious Buck Weirus Spirit Award.

Presented annually by The Association of Former Students (AFS), the award honors students who exemplify outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to the Aggie community. Recipients are selected for their significant contributions to student life and their ability to positively impact others through engagement and initiative.

Rajib’s selection reflects his dedication to both academic excellence and community involvement. As a researcher at IQSE, his work focuses on quantum optics, particularly Hong–Ou–Mandel interferometry and quantum-light spectroscopy for probing ultrafast molecular dynamics under Dr. Zheltikov and Dr. Agarwal. His research advances innovative, low-photon-flux techniques for studying femtosecond-scale processes in complex systems.

Beyond research, Rajib has demonstrated leadership through active participation in student organizations and professional service, contributing to outreach, mentorship, and the broader scientific community at Texas A&M University.

Over the past few years, he has been actively engaged as a Graduate Student Senator at Graduate & Professional Student Government (GPSG), Advisory Board Member at the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), APS Student Ambassador, Counselor at Grad Camp, and Secretary of the OPTICA Student Chapter. These leadership and service roles have significantly shaped his campus involvement and contributed to receiving this honor.

IQSE congratulates Rajib on this distinguished honor and celebrates his continued contributions to science, leadership, and the Aggie spirit.
